Author Guidelines

1. Aims and Scope

PROTEACH (Professional Teacher Education) publishes scholarly works that contribute to the advancement of professional teacher education and educational practice. The journal welcomes high-quality manuscripts reporting research findings, conceptual studies, and educational innovations relevant to teacher professionalism and learning improvement. The journal particularly welcomes manuscripts in the following areas.

2. Types of Manuscripts

PROTEACH accepts the following types of manuscripts:

1. Original research articles

2. Literature review articles
3. Classroom action research
4. Articles on educational innovation

Submitted manuscripts must present original, high-quality scholarly work that contributes to the advancement of professional teacher education and educational practice. Each manuscript should demonstrate a clear research focus, sound methodology, academic rigor, and relevance to the journal's focus and scope while offering meaningful theoretical, practical, or pedagogical contributions. Manuscripts that do not comply with these requirements or fall outside the journal's focus and scope will not be considered for the peer-review process.

3. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must be prepared using the official PROTEACH Article Template and submitted through the journal's Open Journal System (OJS). Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts comply with the journal's formatting requirements, writing style, and submission procedures before submission. Manuscripts that do not conform to the journal template or author guidelines may be returned for revision or declined during the preliminary editorial assessment.

The manuscript should be organized according to the following structure:

Title

Provide a concise and informative title consisting of no more than 12 words in Indonesian, followed by the English version of the title. The title should accurately reflect the content of the manuscript and avoid abbreviations whenever possible.

Author Information

Include the full names of all authors, institutional affiliations, city, country, email addresses, and clearly identify the corresponding author.

Abstract and Keywords

Provide abstracts in Indonesian and English, each consisting of 150–200 words in a single paragraph. The abstract should briefly describe the research objective, methods, and principal findings. Include at least three keywords or key phrases in both Indonesian and English that accurately represent the main topics of the manuscript.

Introduction

The introduction should present the research background, supported by relevant data or current phenomena, followed by a concise review of related literature to identify the research gap (state of the art). The final part of the introduction should clearly state the research objectives, novelty, and expected contribution of the study.

Research Method

Describe the research design and approach, research setting, participants or population and sample, sampling technique, research instruments, data collection procedures, and data analysis methods. The description should be sufficiently detailed to enable the study to be replicated.

Results and Discussion

Present the research findings systematically using text, tables, figures, or graphs where appropriate. The discussion should interpret the findings by relating them to relevant theories and previous studies, emphasizing the study's scientific contribution and practical implications. Authors are also encouraged to acknowledge the limitations of the study where relevant.

Conclusion

The conclusion should clearly answer the research objectives by highlighting the principal findings without repeating the discussion. Practical implications and recommendations for future research may also be included where appropriate.

Acknowledgments (Optional)

Acknowledgments may be included to recognize individuals or institutions that contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship.

References

The reference list should appear as the final section of the manuscript and include only the sources cited in the text. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all in-text citations correspond to entries in the reference list and that all references are complete and accurate.

4. Formatting and References

Manuscripts must be prepared using the official PROTEACH Article Template and formatted consistently according to the journal's writing standards. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript complies with the prescribed formatting requirements, including headings, fonts, spacing, tables, figures, citations, and references, before submission.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals. Table titles should be placed above the tables, whereas figure captions should be placed below the figures. All tables and figures must be cited in the text and positioned as close as possible to their first citation.

Citation and References

All citations and references must follow the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition citation style. The reference list should contain at least 20 references, with a minimum of 80% derived from scholarly journal articles, preferably published within the last 10 years. Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley or Zotero to ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness in citation and reference formatting.

5. Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts undergo a preliminary editorial assessment to evaluate their compliance with the journal's Focus and Scope, manuscript preparation guidelines, formatting requirements, and publication ethics. During this stage, the editorial team also examines the originality, completeness, and overall suitability of the manuscript for publication in PROTEACH. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or declined before entering the review process.

Manuscripts that successfully pass the preliminary assessment proceed to a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the evaluation. Reviewers assess the manuscript based on its relevance to the journal's scope, scientific contribution, originality, methodological appropriateness, clarity of presentation, and overall academic quality, while providing constructive recommendations for improvement.

The final editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief after considering the reviewers' recommendations. Based on the review outcomes, a manuscript may be accepted, accepted with revisions, returned for major or minor revision, or rejected. Manuscripts accepted for publication proceed to the editing, proofreading, and publishing stages in accordance with the journal's editorial procedures.

1. Publication Ethics

PROTEACH is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics by upholding the principles of honesty, academic integrity, objectivity, transparency, and responsibility throughout the editorial and publication process. Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to perform their respective roles ethically and professionally to ensure the quality, credibility, and integrity of scholarly publications.

Authors are responsible for submitting original manuscripts that have not been published previously and are not under consideration by another journal. Authors must present research data accurately, acknowledge all sources appropriately, avoid plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, and unethical authorship practices, and comply with all applicable ethical requirements for research involving human participants. Where applicable, ethical approval and informed consent should be clearly stated in the manuscript.

All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening before entering the peer-review process. PROTEACH accepts manuscripts with an overall similarity index of no more than 20%, with a maximum of 5% similarity from a single source. Manuscripts that exceed these limits or violate the journal's publication ethics may be returned for revision, rejected during editorial assessment, or retracted after publication in accordance with the journal's ethical policies.

Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality throughout the editorial and peer-review process and avoid any conflicts of interest that may influence publication decisions.
